Giddy Giddy!

We love Giddy Giddy hair accessories because they are incredibly cute! The little tiny felt designs have an irresistible hand stitched look, and the felt actually provides grip to hold the baby-sized clip in fine baby hair.
The story behind Giddy Giddy is quite interesting. Teri lives in California but her family is from the Philippines. Though she has been crafty since childhood, she worked for several years in the investment industry. She was inspired to shift her career onto a more creative path when her first daughter was born. Not surprisingly, her little girl had unruly hair!
Since 2003, Teri has developed her creativity in a meaningful way by providing jobs for folks in rural Philippines, including some of her own family members. They sew and craft the hairclips and accessories she designs. Giddy Giddy hairclips are Fair Trade products!
The name Giddy Giddy, besides being a good description of girls full of energy and creativity, is a twist on the similar sounding polynesian term "giri giri," meaning a cowlick.

We have lots of new Giddy Giddy hairclips in the store right now. Stop by Kustum Kribs to see new designs and classic favorites, too!

About Organic Cotton

Is organic cotton the best? Yes! Kate Quinn Organics is just one of the organic cotton clothing brands we carry here in the store. Kate's company is doing their part to ensure that our children can live in a safer world. Organic cotton can indeed make the Earth a safer place! Here's how:
- Durability. Since it must be processed in a gentle way, organic cotton lasts longer than non-organic cotton, so clothes won't need to be replaced as often.
- Organic cotton growing systems replenish and maintain the soil by avoiding toxic pesticides, while also building biological diversity.
- Fabric touches our skin all day, so chemicals that are present on fabrics will be absorbed by the skin. Choosing chemical-free fabrics for your children (and yourself!) also serves as a protection from illness.
- Organic cotton is good for those who wear it, but also best for workers who plant and harvest it, and workers who weave and sew it.
- More and more people are purchasing organic cotton. In the year 2010 the global market grew by 20%, which is comforting news to parents. The more we grow organically, the safer our lives will be!

Kate Quinn is a clothing designer in Seattle who has chosen to use only organic cotton. Her colors and patterns are sweet and sophisticated. Tired of the predictable in your gender neutral options? You'll be thrilled with Kate Quinn's beautiful patterns and unique color combinations that either boys or girls can look stylish in. Choose an infant sacque for a newborn, or a vintage inspired bodysuit for a boy, or a lovely halter sunsuit for a girl. If you're ever in Seattle you can visit her storefront, but you can stay local because we have her wonderful baby clothes in stock right here at Kustum Kribs!

Ugly Dolls are Great Gifts!

It all started when every letter that David Horvath sent to Sun-Min Kim (they were friends that lived in different countries.) had a little cartoon of Wage at the bottom of the letter saying "I miss You" next to it. As a surprise gift Sun-Min sewed a doll of Wage, and sent it to David in the mail. They made some more, and the ugly dolls quickly became popular.

As they are handmade, each doll features slight variations, enhancing the dolls' uniqueness. Each doll also includes a small tag describing the character's distinctive personality. Ugly Dolls have their own little world where both children and adults can enter the beautiful world of ugly, collect all the dolls and collect the quirky minis. Kid and adults looking for a little whimsy can attach them to backpacks, gym bags, luggage, diaper bags and lap top bags. I promise they will make you smile.

So don't forget about the Ugly Dolls when there's a birthday coming up and more importantly, don't forget the holidays are just around the corner!

Buy Ugly Dolls at Kustum Kribs either online at www.kustumkribs.com or stop by the store. We would love to see you!

Wet Bag Myths

There is a popular myth going around that wet bags are only for cloth diapering. This couldn't be further from the true. Let me tell you a little about the make up of a wet bag before I dispel any wet bag myths.

A wet bag is a reusable, washable, and eco-friendly bag designed priarily to hold and separate wet items. The outside of the bag is usually made from cotton or a water reisistan fabric. The inside is lined with a soft and durable lining, usually a pvc-free poly-urethane laminate.

There are many closure styles available in the wet bag - zipper, drawstring, Velcro or a fold-over top. Zipper closures are really the only ones that will seal in odors. Wet bags also vary in size. It depends what you are going to use it for - again, wait for me to dispel the myths.

There are many, many other things you may use a wet bag for in the course of the day. For baby - cloth or disposable diapers, bibs, bottles, wet clothes and baby food. For your toddler - potty training, drippy, sippy cups, snacks, wet clothes, and swimwear. Teens, yes teens -an eco-friendly lunch bag, after school sports bag, swim team bag, and beaach wear bag. For adults, see where I'm going with this - gym clothes, cosmetics, toiletries when traveling, swimwear, and hiking and camping gear.

So you see, wet bags can be used by any member of the family. Your little one can use that wet bag for the rest of their life. A really sound investment. To check out the wet bags at Kustum Kribs - stop by our store, call 847-825-5742 or shop online at www.kustumkribs.com.

The Safe Starter and the Safe Sporter Have Arrived!

We have just received our shipment of the Kid Basix "The Safe Sippy" and "The Safe Sporter". These are the newest additions to the Kid Basix collection at Kustum Kribs joining "the Safe Sippy Cup" and "Safe Sippy 2".

Kid Basix created The Safe Sippy™ series in response to parents’ growing concerns about Bisphenol A and other harmful chemicals present in many plastic bottles. Now, we have expanded the “Safe” brand to include The Safe Starter™ stainless steel baby bottle and The Safe Sporter™ sports bottles to provide safe, reusable drink ware for the entire family.

"The Safe Starter" was developed for babies and sells for $15.00. It comes in green, pink and blue. It comes in 3 nipple flows - slow, medium and fast. "It's been called the coolest baby bottle in the world.!"

"The Safe Sporter" is for older kids as well as adults. Ideal for the lunch box, walks, sport practice or hanging out with friends. Select from blue, green or yellow colors and pay only $16.00. A great deal for a safe, reusable drik delivery system!

"The Safe Sippy Cup" and "The Safe Sippy 2" is available for kids. "The Safe Sippy Cup" has a straw delivery system. It sells for $15.95. "The Safe Sippy 2" has the option of being a sippy cup or you can use the straw. It sells for $14.95. Both are available in pink, blue and green.

Why go with stainless steel bottles from Kid Basix when so many BPA-free plastic bottles are available now? We can give you 300 billion reasons. That’s the approximate number of plastic water bottles discarded around the world every year. Enough to power 12 million cars for an entire year. And that’s just the water bottles! It doesn’t include all the plastic bottles used for sodas, sports drinks, fruit juices and the like. All told, the plastic bottles we throw away each year would reach to the moon and back – 1500 times. So using reusable stainless steel bottles makes sense on every level: personal, local and global.

Order "The Safe Starter", "The Safe Sippy Cup", "The Safe Sippy 2" and "The Safe Sporter" at www.KustumKribs.com or stop by Kustum Kribs and see them face to face before you decide which ones you need for yourself and your family.
